A new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Easter egg has been confirmed, revealing a secret multiverse connection to Iron Man.
An Iron Man Easter egg in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness everyone missed is now confirmed. Marvel Studios is attempting to move past Iron Man after his death in Avengers: Endgame, and that includes elevating Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to replace him. His long-awaited sequel should have huge ramifications on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the exploration of the multiverse is just beginning. Doctor Strange 2 only scratched the surface of what the MCU's multiverse storytelling could include, such as cameos for Professor X, Mister Fantastic, Black Bolt, and others as part of an Illuminati universe.
In the lead-up to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' release, one of the biggest questions surrounding the film was whether or not it would include some Iron Man connections. Rumors swirled that Tom Cruise would appear as an Iron Man variant, but that did not happen. Doctor Strange 2 did reference Iron Man's sacrifice in a few ways, while his presence on Earth-838 with the Illuminati was also teased through the good Ultron bots. However, it turns out that the movie included a secret Iron Man Easter egg during its multiverse travels.

Now that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been out for over a month, the 40-second multiverse traveling sequence continues to undergo further examination. Framestore, a VFX company, was in charge of creating the CGI sequence and the 20 universes Doctor Strange falls through with America Chavez. While speaking to Cinematography World, supervisor Alexis Wajsbrot confirmed that one of the universes included an Iron Man Easter egg in the form of the Stark Industries drones introduced in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Once we had a first version of our core environments, we quickly realised we needed to add some life to each world. We added giant bees in the honeycomb world, fish to the underwater world, some Stark Industries drones in the pipe world..the list goes on. It was important to make each universe a tangible place, instead of just a background that flashes by.
Now that this Iron Man Easter egg is confirmed, the Doctor Strange 2 multiverse sequence has once again added a tease of a world that is very different from the MCU. Another recent image highlighted a black-and-white Hydra World where the organization seemingly took over the world. After highlighting a universe where Captain America's story played out very differently and Hydra won, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse now also teases a futuristic world where Iron Man and Tony Stark could have an alternate and evil path.
The revelation that Spider-Man: Far From Home's Stark drones are in this futuristic-looking universe could mean that Doctor Strange 2 included a glimpse of a Superior Iron Man universe. Superior Iron Man is an evil version of Tony Stark in the comics who wears a white and black suit, which matches the aesthetic presented in this unnamed multiverse world. With the Stark drones roaming free and seemingly having a large presence in this universe, it is possible Superior Iron Man rules this alternate MCU world. If that is the case, Marvel Studios will have to build on this Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness tease at a later point.
