Vince McMahon is WWE's majority owner but how much of the company does he actually own?

Vince McMahon has temporarily stepped down from his duties as CEO and Chairman of WWE in the wake of the recent revelations as they pertain to the probe into his alleged misconduct.

McMahon stands accused of paying $3 million in hush money to a former employee he had an affair with. The 76-year-old, who will be on SmackDown this Friday, has indicated he will cooperate with the investigation and accept any outcome the WWE board deems necessary.

His daughter, Stephanie, will take up his duties, having returned from her leave of absence as a result of the scandal.

The entire thing has been quite the shock and WWE will be without McMahon at its helm for the first time in around 40 years. It will be interesting to see how things play out under Stephanie’s leadership.

Given his long and successful tenure as the head of WWE, there are questions over how much of the company is actually owned by McMahon. While he remains the majority owner, McMahon owns less than half of the company.

Sportskeeda.com reports McMahon owns around 28.7 million of the company’s total shares, which amounts to 37.6 percent of WWE, and has 83 percent of voting power when it comes to internal matters.

As his shares are in the “Class B” category, McMahon has higher voting power.

New interim CEO Stephanie is believed to own around 2.47 percent of the company, having sold shares along with her husband Paul Levesque (Triple H) in 2020.

As noted above, McMahon will address fans on SmackDown this Friday. It’s reported that he will be in character.

While he has relinquished his position as WWE CEO, he will retain creative duties and will continue to dictate storylines.
